Havana Nights at The Kate

We were honored to be a part of last weekend's "Havana Nights" gala at The Kate! The Katherine Hepburn Cultural Arts Center and Theatre, located on Main Street in Old Saybrook, Connecticut, also known as "The Kate," hosts an annual gala every summer in the center of town to raise money for their upcoming year.
We worked alongside volunteers and created tablescapes in keeping with the "Havana Nights" theme. Compact, monochromatic arrangements of orchids, roses, and protea surrounded oversized tropical leaves.  Assorted palm trees were used to create a screen along the perimeter of the tent.
The night was a success for everyone involved, local businesses, guests, and The Kate as well! Planning an event or party in the future? We would be happy to work with you to create a beautiful evening!

Back to School... Go Green!

Go Green... In your dorm, office, or classroom! Air plants, succulents, and orchids are all low maintenance, indoor plants that will bring a fresh perspective to a blank space.

Bring in some of your favorite pots or containers and let us help you pick out some funky plants to spruce up an area! Shown below is Emily, who brought in some of her favorite pots from different flower shops, stores, boutiques, and even some of her mother's collectibles, all to be filled so she can add some green to her dorm room at UCONN this fall.

May Day Celebrations

Posted by Mar Floral in florist, flower shop, flowers, gifts, old saybrook, spring
Tomorrow marks the first day of May, also known as May Day! May Day is a traditional spring holiday in North America celebrated  on May 1st. Many European cultures celebrate by dancing around a “May Pole,” a large pole in the ground, decorated with streamers.
Dancing around a pole isn’t really your thing? Try dropping off some flowers on a friend’s doorstep. A long-standing May Day tradition is to leave a basket of flowers hanging on a neighbor’s doorknob.
Stop by the shop in Old Saybrook today and pick up a bundle of fresh flowers to celebrate or surprise a friend!
Happy May Day and Happy Spring from all of us at the flower shop!
